Left - Why it's not Right for India ?

Comrades !!
Lal salam !!!!!!
Used to get goosebumps listening to those words in my childhood. Growing up in a family where my father, uncles and the people in my entire locality are staunch supporters of the Red flag, I used to be so close to this ideology.
In India majority Communists used to follow the Marxist - Leninist ideology. Post independence these communist forces played the role of major opposition in the centre very effectively. They also enjoyed a golden age during the 1990s and early 2000s when they held governments in three states and their strength in parliament mounted around 55 to 60 seats. They were kingmakers for the Third Front governments during 1996-98, when the Left Front joined the 13-party coalition, and for the government of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) between 2004 and 2008.

But where is communism in India now ?? It's almost on it's death bed, Restricted to power merely in one state..Kerala !!

The demise of the left is definitely a disaster for the country, there is no doubt in it..But where is our left moving towards now ? Far away from their basics..Ironical, but true !!

They have always had a very uncomfortable relationship with nationalism. Some of the major debates and divisions within the Communist Party of India have revolved around the question of nationalism, till date !!

These Communists speak about Veer Savarkar and RSS but forgets about 1942 freedom struggle where CPI openly opposed the idea of Quit India movement.

In 1948, post independence, Com. Randive openly said that the freedom we got was a lie and the states are being unified forcibly with armed forces. Idiotic right ??
Most importantly in 1962, when the Sino-Indian border conflict occurred, a section of communists, among whom Namboodiripad was prominent, chose to uphold the cause of China and portrayed India as the aggressor.

Things like these slowly maligned the image of the party among Indians. But party still worked due to likes of Jyothi basu, Manik Sarkar etc. These left parties survived in India only because of our inclination towards Russia post independence. After the fall of USSR, started the beginning of their end as India started opening it's market and started economic reforms, thanks to Mr Rao.
While most political parties around the world, including Communist parties, re-invent themselves to stay afloat and win popular support, the CPI and the CPI(M) have stubbornly stuck to the theories and slogans that defined them decades ago. Their ideas about the working class, organised labour and the capitalist-proletariat binary remains unchanged, even though the world has moved on. Chanting “Inquilab Zindabad” by waving their red hammer and sickle flags doesn't workout anymore.

The left parties now are on ventilator. They needs to be flexible in ideas to achieve bigger goals, instead of sticking to its old-fashioned politics and waiting for a revolution along the lines of 1917 to sweep the land. They can learn from China and Russia, the historical flag bearers of communism, both of which have transitioned to free-market economies.

There are two types of countries in the world - those that treat minorities equally and those that don’t. India is the only country in the world which follows a third path, and gives extra special status to their minorities.

They led the brigade claiming that India is becoming intolerant. If India has become intolerant, then that judgment can be made only by the citizens of India, not by a handful of writers and so-called intellectuals who have become part of the #AwardWapsiGang.

Manmohan as Prime Minister had declared that minorities had first rights to the country’s resources. India is one of the rare tolerant countries where the head of state could get away after making such a statement.

They sympathized terrorists and did nonsense across the nation under name of #Azaadi.
They want kashmir not to be a part of India, They what insurgency in North east and they survive only creating a mess.

The Left in India, to tackle BJP, has been working overtime to damage the reputation of the nationalist stream. Its propaganda machinery manufactures facts and makes dangerous attempts to show ‘Bharatiya’ identity in poor light. The pride in being 'Bharatiya' and ‘Bharatiyata’ is ridiculed and rationalised. They have a deep and sinister design. They have a past of shaming ‘Bharatiya’ so that nationalism is looked down upon. All this is only to target merely one political party.

They became the standard bearer of the pseudo-secular brigade, became hostile to the Hindu majority and is pretending as if radical Islam is not an issue at all. The most recent example of its contempt for Hindu sentiment is the way it handled the Sabarimala issue and encouraged individuals to deride Hindus, their customs and their way of life. Where as in the same year year they criticised the verdict regarding Triple talak issue.

Under these circumstances how can people support the left wing which itself is making fun out of itself with it's double standards ??

Gone are those days when distressed looked upon communists in support for empowerment.
Hopefully this red brigade will better learn from their mistakes and stop making a mess of Nationalism or Hinduism, so that it can atleast survive.
